Greatest Golf Courses of the World Reviewed

Mayakoba, Playa Del Carmen , Mexico

Mayakoba is host to a new event on the PGA Tour, the Mayakoba Classic, played at the el Camaleon Golf Course.

The el Camaleon - Mayakoba Golf Course is a magnificent Greg Norman Signature Design , set along the beach and in the jungle in the Mayan Riviera. The course has been 10 years in the making and the developers, OHL from Spain , have invested over 23 million in the development of the course.

The course plays very fair, however it's easy to lose a few balls in the jungle. If your errant shot ends up in the jungle or one of the many canals, you don't want to go chasing after it because you might find yourself getting bitten by a crocodile. We saw a small croc sunning himself by the edge of the 5 th fairway.

There are lots of sand traps on this course as well. The sand is very soft and fluffy and designed to PGA standards. It's relatively easy to get out of.

The el Camaleon Golf Course is located about 15 minutes east of Playa Del Carmen, and 25 minutes west of Cancun .

Mayakoba in Mayan means "City on the Water." You can take a water-taxi boat throughout the jungle to get from hotels to the golf course or the beach.

The course is surrounded by natural jungle, so you will see plenty of amazing flora and fauna. Rare birds, butterflies, mangroves, Iguanas - even small crocodiles.

There are currently 5 luxury hotels located in the Mayakoba Resort area.

Mayakoba is managed by Fairmont Resorts, bringing their typical 1 st class service and hospitality.

Mayakoba Golf Course and the Mayan Riviera are becoming one of the Premier Golf Destinations in Mexico .

If you are looking for a 1 st Class Golf Vacation in Mexico , I highly recommend the Mayakoba resort.
