Confessions of a Golf-a-holic

A letter from a Bonafied Golf Nut:

To: All my fellow golfers who have become hopelessly addicted to this crazy game of golf… just like me.>>>>Colin and pals blissfully dreaming of golf

Yes, I’m addicted to golf and I need help. I’ve quit hundreds of times. Then I make a couple of birdies and I get hooked again. Making an eagle simply sends me over the edge and feeds my addiction!

Dreams of Golfing With Tiger Woods…
Sometimes I even lose sleep over my golf addiction. I have this re-occurring dream that I’m golfing in a tournament with Tiger Woods. In my dream, something inevitably happens and I make Tiger wait a long time while I tee off. People are watching and I’m nervous and it’s embarrassing. The pressure is so intense… I usually wake up in a cold sweat!

Maybe one of these days Natalie Gulbis will show up in one of my golf dreams! That would probably cure my golf addiction… or just make it worse!

I suppose the golf psychologists would tell me I’m dealing with a repressed childhood dream of playing golf on the PGA tour. Maybe they’re right.

As for the real world of golf, my handicap has been hovering between 9 to an 11 for the past 3 years. I’ve honestly been struggling to lower my golf scores. I play 25-30 rounds a year and practice about 1-2 hours most weeks in the summer. I read everything I can get my hands on to improve my golfing and even take lessons from a great golf instructor. I’m intent on improving my golf game.

My real life dream is to become a scratch golfer. You see, I have this standing bet with my golfing buddies Mark Evans and Doug Schweers that the first one to become a scratch golfer will get taken by the other guys on a 1st class golf excursion to play Pebble Beach and Spyglass.

You could say that I’m kind of motivated by beating my golf pals. I’d just like to surprise them a good can of whoop-ass – know what I mean? Maybe you have some warped golf goals like mine?

How to become a scratch golfer…

Have you ever wondered, as I have, how to become a scratch handicap golfer? What is it that allows certain golfers to consistently break par? Is it confidence? Is it practice? Is it overcoming mental barriers? Better golf equipment? What are the real secrets that ALL great golfers have in common?

Finally, the real truth about how to improve your golf game revealed...

I’ll find all kinds of great golf training aids, swing trainers, golf gifts, golf books, great golf courses, golf course photography and even fun golf trivia and golf jokes. I’ll review any golf training aid and give my honest feedback. If it’s any good, I’ll even provide a link so it’s easy for you to order it if you like.

Hey - Thanks for your help… just by reading this letter.
Part of my recovery has been to admit I have a problem, recognize that I’ve been powerless with my old swing, confess it to others and get help.

Who knows… Maybe one day I really will play with Tiger Woods…

So enough about me…

By the way, do you know how to tell when there’s a golf pro at a party? It’s easy: You’ll hear some guy bragging real loud and he’ll inevitably say something like, “Well, enough about golf, let’s talk about me for a while!”

And if you’re a golf pro reading this, lighten up and laugh at yourself a little bit.

To better golf,

Colin Goehring

PS Hey – I almost forgot to introduce you to my good friends who helped me build this site:

A big thanks to Scott Paton. He’s an Internet Marketing wizard that specializes in Podcasts and Blogs. It’s really amazing how he knows how to drive a ton of traffic to a website. He’s also great at writing copy.

In just a few weeks, Scott has already made our golf training aids review the #1 ranked golf podcast at podomatic.com. Pretty amazing, isn’t it!

If you like what you see on this site, I’d highly recommend you give Scott a jingle because I just write stuff and talk about golf on our podcasts - Scott puts it all together. If you’d like to contact Scott Paton, you can reach him at Scott@Podcasting-Unleashed.com

However, I have to warn you, Scott is really busy these days because he flies all over the world to do seminars teaching people how to Podcast and write copy. So please don’t bug him unless you have a serious interest in developing a great project.

Also, thanks to all the guys at J2 Golf Marketing John Johnson is the best golf photographer in the world. Mark Whitright at Golf Photos – you’re amazing. The majority of the best golf photography on this site is their work. Thanks also to Ben Bonora for the web support and Eric Grimnes with the graphic design – you guys pros.

Also a big thanks to my pal, Roy Ooms from Lightworks photography. He’s provided some really cool golf photos of me in action that we’ve used on this site.

"A big thanks for the exceptional work on the videos to Shawn & Rebecka Christenson of Highly Inspired Video. You do amazing work!"

Please, feel free to contribute. If I can be of help in answering a question, just slip me a note to colin@golftrainingaidsreviewed.com.
